Free School Meal Vouchers

Dear Parent/Carer

For the past 3 weeks you will have had the offer of food parcels from ourselves, as part of our commitment to providing free school meals to those students eligible during the lockdown. Through January so far, we have delivered nearly 400 food parcels and I am sure you would join me in thanking our catering staff for preparing the food and our staff volunteers for their delivery service.

On January 13th the Department for Education announced the recommencement of their national voucher scheme, via the provider Edenred, to run during normal school weeks for the remainder of the lockdown. From Monday 25th January we will subsequently move to this voucher scheme and will provide you with vouchers to cover the three weeks up to half term. This means that you will receive vouchers worth £45 for each eligible child in your household. Please be aware you will not then receive another voucher from us until February 22nd
These vouchers will, in the majority of instances, arrive via e-mail as was the case in the summer. We have used the contact details we currently hold, which were all correct in July of 2020 and hopefully remain so. If there are any issues with this please e-mail us on and we will work with you to ensure you get your vouchers. Where we know there were issues with receiving the vouchers during the last lockdown we have put alternative arrangements in place to ensure that you receive them. The Government have committed to providing meals over February half term, but this will be via their Covid Winter Relief Fund. This fund will work as it did over the Christmas holiday, and is administrated by Derbyshire County Council, not Friesland School. We have uploaded all of the information required to Derbyshire, so they should be in contact with you all over the coming days regarding half term, which begins on Monday 15th February.

Away from meals, we are also committed to helping families access remote education, especially those who cannot effectively access the internet. If you are having connectivity issue please let us know on as we may be able to apply for pre-paid Government ‘dongles’ to facilitate internet access at home. As always, Friesland is here to help you, so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Yours sincerely

Craig Patterson
