Headteacher’s Message

I am sure that many of you have been discussing the new mobile phone policy with your children since our announcement last week, I understand that it is a big change and will have sparked some healthy debate. I really appreciate all of the support we have received, and the questions and queries that have come in. If you have anything you would like to ask about the policy prior to our launch on Monday 7th June please do get in touch.

I have written to you this morning about masks in school, with Erewash currently experiencing the highest covid rates in the country I don’t see that I can ask staff and students to remove masks at this point. Again, if you would like to discuss this further please get in touch.

A few weeks ago, I asked that we all do our best to be good neighbours as we enter and leave Friesland, a few days ago I received the following message, which highlights just how brilliant many of our students are:

My wife and I caught the i4 bus in Stapleford today at about 3 pm traveling towards Nottingham. It was full, including standing, mainly with pupils from your school. Immediately several pupils offered their seats to my wife (who is partially sighted) and myself. I had a pleasant chat to a pupil next to me while all the others quietly chatted among themselves – no shouting. We would like to thank your staff for teaching your students good manners and how to behave in public

Whilst I don’t know who these students were, I couldn’t be more proud of them and the vast majority of our community for how they conduct themselves every day.
