Welcome to the PTA section of the school website We are very lucky at Friesland School to have a very supportive and active PTA. Fewer and fewer secondary schools now have them. They do great work for the school.
The PTA organise regular fundraising events including a spring fair, fashion shows, Race Nights, sponsored events and help out at a variety of whole school events. They also organise ‘Bags for schools’ at the midpoint of the school year.
To maintain the events that are organised, which raise valuable funds for school, requires a little bit of time and can be great fun! To get involved, why not come to a meeting or volunteer to help at an event? We have a dedicated group of existing members but are always on the lookout for others to join. We hold some of our meetings at local pubs and have some social time as well as a business agenda.
The PTA spend money raised on a variety of items for school that benefit all students. Recent donations to school include £500 towards some greatly needed equipment for the Duke of Edinburgh award. We have also purchased equipment for various subject areas in school. The Race Night we run helps our older students for their fund-raising for the Namibia trip which is a truly great cause.
The impact of the events organised by the PTA cannot be under-estimated in creating a community spirit in school and the funds raised really do impact on children’s enjoyment of school and the quality of the resources they use. At Friesland we really believe a great school comes from parents, staff, students and other stakeholders all working closely together.
