Last Inspection: May 2015
The link below takes you to the published OFSTED report on the full inspection of the school that took place on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th May 2015. I am delighted to be able to inform you that the school came out as ‘Good in all areas’. Many of you will be aware that the school did not have a good experience of inspection in May 2013. However, since that time, we have been fully committed to getting the school to ‘good’ as quickly as possible. The staff have worked incredibly hard with our students across the last two years to achieve this judgement and it is a great reward for their efforts.
Please do take some time to read the text of the report, which is very detailed and celebrates so many aspects of the school’s work. You will see that there are lots of positive references to our students who were a real credit both to you and the school during the two days of inspection as they always are. The inspection team commented on how welcoming the school was and what a delight our students were.
I would like to put on record my thanks to all of our parents and carers for your support leading up to and during the inspection. The parentview feedback was very supportive of the school and confirmed what we already knew from our extensive surveying at Parents’ Evenings – you have a very high regard for all of the work we do at Friesland. The partnership work between staff, students and parents is a real strength of the school and its value should never be underestimated.
As a school we are on a journey and the challenge now is to keep the momentum going and get to outstanding at our next OFSTED. The OFSTED judgement of May 2015 is great news for the school, a significant step on that journey and a real cause for celebration.
Maths Subject Inspection
You may be aware from your son/daughter that the school received a subject inspection of mathematics on 2nd and 3rd February 2015. I am delighted to be able to feedback to you that the inspection went extremely well and the department came out as ‘good’ in all areas. Below is a copy of the letter HMI Jan Bennett has written that contains the outcome of the two day visit. Please do have a good read of it as there is some great text in the letter that really shows the huge improvements that have been made in the subject area in the course of the last two years.
