In 2019 we were delighted to continue our long-running exchange with Dreiech School in Langen, together with students from Trent College. In September German pupils spent the week staying with some of our students from Years 9 and 10 and experienced a day in lessons, as well as trips to Chatsworth House, Nottingham Caves and Alton Towers. The German students spoke fondly of fish and chips, baked beans, roast dinners and of course of the weekends they spent with their exchange partner and family.
In May we headed off to Langen, near Frankfurt, for the exchange partners to be reunited. Together with the German students in whose families we were staying, we experienced amazing views from Frankfurt’s Main Tower, visited the beautiful castle and old town of Heidelberg and spent time in an interactive museum for the senses in Wiesbaden. Students spent a morning in the German school, met the Mayor of Langen and experienced family life at the weekend. This ranged from long cycle rides, trips along the river Rhine, a weekend in Berlin, watching a German football game, bowling and much more besides. Genuine friendships were made and several return visits have been planned.
