On the 16th February, a group of Friesland students set off on a trip to Corpus Christi College at Oxford University. Mr Puddy and Mrs Pitman accompanied us for the whole day, much to everyone’s delight!
When we arrived at the University, we were immediately immersed into activities. First, we learned about the different types of accommodation that were on offer to students in universities across the country, as well as Oxford and Cambridge. We were then able to learn about the variety of courses we could study at Oxford, which was really useful and interesting.
We were also really lucky to be able to interview some current students on what their university courses and lifestyle are like. Later on in the day, we got the chance to have a taster session of some of their subjects, which was an interesting insight into how the learning style is quite different to that at school.
Lunch was provided, which I’m sure everyone enjoyed! It felt a bit like dining at Hogwarts, but was really nice to have a sneak peek into the daily life of students at Corpus Christi.
After lunch, we had a tour of the college campus. It was perfect weather for walking around, the sun was shining and everyone had a great time. The campus was gorgeous, and the random objects dotted about by the gardener really gave it a unique feel. A special mention must be given to the library, which was like something out of a historical movie!
We also had a very quick wander round Oxford itself, then it was time to get back in the minibus and head home. A great day was had by all students, and we hope Mr Puddy enjoyed the singing on the way home!
