On 14th November, seventy very excited Performing Arts students travelled down to London for a two-day residential trip. We had a luxury coach, complete with a fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable driver, nicknamed “Reg The Ledge” by the end of the trip…
During the two days, we visited the Tower of London, Covent Garden and Tate Modern. At Covent Garden, pure chance led us to arrive just as a dress rehearsal was taking place for the Covent Garden Christmas lights switch on, which was broadcast live later that evening on BBC One in support of BBC Children in Need. The event included a number of performances from the cast of 42nd Street, and an appearance from Pudsey Bear himself!
However, the purpose of the trip was to give students the chance to experience two of the biggest shows currently running in London’s infamous ‘Theatreland’. The highlights of the trip were the two fantastic shows we got to see – Les Misérables and Matilda the Musical!
The students had a fantastic time and were an absolute credit to themselves and the school. What shows will we see on our trip next year? Watch this space!
