As part of our transition event for new year 12 students, a large group of our alumni volunteered their time to share their experiences of post sixteen education at Friesland and offered advice on how to select courses and approach this phase of education in general.
Furthermore, they shared their up to date reflections upon higher education and the world of work, ranging from graduates to those who have just successfully completed their first year at university.
Alongside talking about the benefits of participating in the apprenticeship scheme at Rolls Royce and within the Pathology Department at Derby Hospital, students heard about universities such as: Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, UEA and Drama Schools. Our alumni shared anecdotes regarding student life and the world of work to a very attentive audience.
A diverse variety of subjects were referenced, including Drama, English, History, Geography, Maths, Musical Theatre, Photography, Project Management, Make up design/ Special Effects within the Media Industry and Sports Science.
Friesland Sixth Form is delighted to be able to provide such fabulous role models to help inspire present and future students and is very appreciative of past students’ giving up their time to support our work.
