“When we arrived at Oxford we headed for Corpus Christi College, the 12th oldest college in the university which is celebrating its quincentenary (500th birthday) this year. The college was absolutely beautiful with its old buildings still showing their rich heritage to this day. Before lunch, our tour guide, Brendan, gave us a talk about university life, the pros of studying for a degree and gave us the chance to ask him anything about the university too.
After that, we all had the opportunity to have lunch in their grand dining hall, where we all ate their home-cooked food, which was delicious.
We also got the chance to get a tour around the college, getting to see the college library, gardens, theatre, beer cellar and their fancy toilets! Our tour guide also told us that in summer, all of the students would race their pet tortoises. The winner was the first tortoise to reach a leaf of lettuce!
Alongside Corpus Christi, we also got the chance to explore Jesus College and the city before we had to head back to school.
Overall, the day in Oxford was absolutely beautiful and made me fall in love with both the city and the idea of going to university too.”
