On 28th February 2012, 4 weeks after giving birth to our first son, a bad headache became a brain tumour. It was the size of my fist and it had to be removed. Thank you to the skill of Mr Basu and his team at Nottingham University Hospital I am here to tell the story. A tough 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy then followed, the level of care I received was wonderful and it was free.
5 Years on and I am now taking on the challenge of 6 weeks of 1 hour swim sessions not radiotherapy to raise funds for D10, the Neuro oncology ward I spent so much time in.
So far the swimming is going well, I swam too hard on my first day but have now found a pace that does not leave me exhausted for the rest of the day. So in the first 2 days I’m up to 130 lengths, which I very pleased with.
Please give what you can.
Neuro oncology is massively underfunded.
