For three nights in December, Friesland actors performed one of the most famous plays of the last 30 years.
Blood Brothers is an incredibly entertaining, moving and socially aware piece of drama. The 40 strong cast from Years 10 to 13 created memorable characters, successfully managing to combine the serious with the comic. The story of twin brothers Mickey and Eddie, separated at birth, was presented with sensitivity and thought-provoking realism.
A chorus of ‘journalists’ interested only in the media scoop of the brothers’ demise, shadowed the action in a brooding almost animalistic representation of the Narrator character. They seemed to influence all the events of the play as the story unfolded before them; commenting on what they see, prompting characters to make decisions and even controlling the set changes.
A hugely talented cast allowed grown members of the audience to shed a tear!
Well done everyone!
