School is again celebrating excellent A level results today. Particularly pleasing this year is the increase of students achieving *A/A grades and *A-B grades with the latter figure rising to 43% of grades achieved. Progress data, a key measure now, indicates that students across the board have made good progress from their starting points.
Headteacher Peter Monk commented ‘The official feedback we received on the OFSTED data dashboard on our results last year was all about strengths with no identified areas for improvement. This year’s results are even better so we are delighted with them. As is always the case the results are a testament to the hard work, application and talent of students and staff together. Today is the culmination of two years of work.
I would mention our period 6 this year which is an extra period at the end of the school day offered voluntarily by staff to post-16 students and very well attended by students. We pride ourselves on being an academic Sixth Form and the great results achieved in each of the Sciences, including Computer Science, Maths and English really illustrates this. Furthermore, the achievement of our students studying vocational subjects is outstanding.’
Head of Post-16 Mat Puddy commented ‘As a genuinely comprehensive Sixth Form, we recognise achievements made by a wide range of students, obtaining results that will enable them to progress smoothly to the next exciting phase of their lives. The very successful introduction of the Extended Project Qualification, underlines our students’ readiness for independent learning and using initiative, in whatever is their chosen pathway. We are proud of all our students and wish them every future success and happiness. Students from Friesland Sixth Form will now embark upon degree courses related to some of our most highly regarded professions. Additionally, some of our students will be experiencing the exciting challenges provided by higher apprenticeships and also gap year opportunities.
