An ex Friesland student, Stan Readyhoof, recently delivered a fascinating presentation giving an invaluable insight to forging a career at Rolls Royce. Stan has recently won the UK Higher Apprentice award, for his work as a Manufacturing Engineer, specialising in, amongst other aspects, electron beam welding. Stan’s work is primarily focussed on submarines.
Stan highlighted the incredible training opportunities offered by Rolls Royce and the substantial investment that apprentices receive. Having left Friesland Sixth Form after his A Levels, Stan decided that an apprenticeship rather than a physics degree was his preferred option and he hasn’t looked back; currently studying for a PHD and in the process of buying a house as a reward for his hard work, dedication and talent!
Stan’s presentation aided students’ understanding of apprenticeships and underlines Friesland Sixth Form’s commitment to providing a broad and balanced range of career guidance.
Stan’s presentation was scheduled in the same PHSE session as an ‘employability’ session delivered by the National Citizen Service; including interview skills and curriculum vitae content. Thanks to Rolls Royce and NCS.
