Last November Friesland students hosted their German partners from Long Eaton’s twin town of Langen. During the week we went to Alton Towers, were greeted by the Long Eaton mayor and had many other great trips. We made lots of lasting memories and we very very upset when our partners had to leave. Luckily, at the end of June, we got the chance to reunite with our partners and stay with them and their families in Langen. During the week we visited their school, went on a cruise on the Rhein and got plenty of shopping in. Many of us visited nearby Frankfurt, which was only a 20 min train ride away. We enjoyed the awesome outdoor pools and the local Ebbelwoifest – a local traditional festival.
The exchange as a whole was an amazing experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone – here are some comments made by the students involved:
From having my partner here at home to going over to Langen, it’s been an incredible experience. I was nervous going over to Germany, but once I was there I loved it. The evenings we spent together will live with me forever.

The exchange has given me the opportunity to experience German culture and has developed my language skills. I have made many friends that I will keep for life.

We would like to thank our host families, Mr Pearce and Mrs Lemon for giving us this opportunity that will stay with us forever.
