Firfield Primary School performed a fun contemporary ‘pop’ routine to Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’. Shardlow Primary School students created and performed to the popular ‘Uptown Funk’. Cotmanhay showed off their dancing skills with a fusion of waltz, hip hop and cha cha. Scargill Primary school impressed us with the popular Grease hit ‘We Go Together’. Grange Primary School had fun performing their disco style routine to Jess Glynne ‘Hold My Hand’.
The morning also gave Friesland students the chance to showcase their work and show the younger students what they could achieve if they went on to study dance at GCSE and A Level.
Our Year 10 GCSE dancers performed a whole class piece called ‘Fragmentation, Repetition and Change’ and the A Level students performed a contemporary piece based on the lyrics from Lily Allen’s popular song ‘Somewhere Only We Know’.
Rhian Lilley, Partnership Development Manager for the Erewash School Sport Partnership hosted the event and praised all of the students for their dedication to Dance. At the end of the morning all of the students danced together their Finale piece ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams – and what a way it was to end the morning!
