On Wednesday 4th February, Y13 Drama students completed Unit 3 of their A Level. Using the snow covered grounds of Elvaston Castle as their venue; they had spent the last 3 months researching the history of Elvaston and the families who resided there through the years and also researched and practically explored the theatre practitioners, Frantic Assembly. At 2pm they opened the grand wooden doors to the mysterious and atmospheric Gothic Hall and invited family, friends and the public to watch their devised performances. The two performances were followed by a question and answer session with the audience who had some questions of their own about the turbulent history of Elvaston that had been showcased in the performances.
The students had a fantastic day, even with the minus temperatures and Elvaston created the perfect setting for some dark, thought provoking and highly physical pieces of drama. Same time next year please Elvaston.
