On the last morning of this year’s German Exchange, Year 5 students from Longmoor and Firfield came to visit for a German Breakfast Experience. Working together with both the English and German exchange students, the MFL staff and some of our A level students, our visitors had a chance to try out some German greetings, learn the German words for some typical German breakfast foods and play some matching and memory games. Of course they also got to try the food itself, but only after they had sung a song to say how hungry they were – in German, of course! Chocolate spread on freshly baked white rolls seemed to be the most popular choice, but the year 5s were also keen to try different cheeses and cold meats. All the children seemed to enjoy their experience, and who knows, they could even be future participants of the German Exchange.
